Marco Gervasio is a talented Italian designer and screenwriter. In 1996, he met Giovanni Batista Carpi, who greatly appreciated his design style and introduced him to the Disney Academy, where he graduated in June 1997. That same year he created his first story about Disney. Since then, he has worked closely with Walt Disney Company Italia, creating many stories as a designer, but also as a screenwriter. In Greece we met him through his stories Phantom Duck We read in the magazine Almanac. The series with his stories Fantomia started in 2014 in COMIX magazine and later continued in the magazine Mickey Mouse (where stories preceded the series entered). Marco Gervasio: Good evening, everyone!

Hi, Marco, and thank you again for being with us. Fantomia is designed by other creators with a different appearance. For example, Mårdøn Smet portrayed him as in the picture. But your Fantomy seems to be the one Scarpa created. What do you think of others? «Fantasies» by the other creators? (if you've ever read their stories)

Marco: I know the other stories and the other Fantomies! But I think they're quite different from my Fantomy and the one Guido Martina had in mind. Certainly in appearance but even in their character and background. So they don't represent the thief aristocrat as I do. This Fantomy is not the Lord Quackett.

Have you thought in your future stories about Fantomia taking a trip to Greece?

Marco: Actually these days I'm writing Fantomy's new adventures. And there's the idea of taking a trip to Europe... Maybe he's making a stop in your country. We'll see.

In the list of The Comic Con of Thessaloniki (a pity you failed to visit us by the way), you put Fantomia in front of the Fountain of the city. What was the reason you chose this particular monument?


Marco: I found several images of your beautiful city. But I saw that almost all the other designers had sketched the Tower. So I said, leave the Tower and do something different! Let's go to the fountain, which is also a symbol of life.

Hello Maestro!!! I noticed that you recently started making stories that are divided into two parts (i.e. stories with more pages). Will Fantomy meet Uncle Scrooge in such a story in the future? I ask this question as I believe their previous meeting in history «The Thief & the Mogul» It had good prospects but there was no room for growth.

Marco: (spoiler) You'll be happy to know that in Italy the story you're talking about has just been published! «The Two Avengers», one crossover in two places with his friendly participation Uncle ScroogeAnd in future stories beyond it there will be this opportunity.

Fantomia's journey will end sometime after he disappears. You've thought about the idea that he and his friends retire but have a normal life in his present. Donald DuckThrough time travel, I mean. Or could Fantomy travel to a future far from Donald's and get a new life there? So have you thought that his story will end or start again in a different way? That's actually what I'm asking.

Marco: I've thought of the perfect way of how and when Fantomy's story will end. The adventures of Fantomia take place from 1920 until 1930 And right now, (in Italy) we're pretty much in the middle of our journey. There will be more to be said about the thief aristocrat, but at some point (I don't know when...) I will put the word «End» And this will be a story that will leave an era!

I love your work, Marco, and I look forward to your future stories! It's great you're here. But, Scrooge's meeting with Fantomia in the past wouldn't affect how Scrooge felt about Phantom. Duck when she first met him in the present (in the 1960s stories)? He should not wonder that Fantomy is still alive, rather than consider Phantom as a new one. «malicious» Oh, my head hurt.

Marco: Uncle Scrooge is not so surprised to see Fantomia in the present (the future for Fantomia) because he is used to everything but also because at the moment he is more concerned that Fantomia steals the gold lump the size of an egg goose! But Scrooge remembers their meeting in the past and is indeed this meeting that forces him to trust the thief aristocrat. Still, in the 60s he already knows Fantomia but for some reason we will see, he did not remember everything...

Marco: There are no coincidences in Fantomia's world ????

Will Phantom Duck and Fantomy ally again in the future?

Marco: Maybe ????

Hi, I've been an Italian Disney School fan for many years. I think her characters are more plastic and funny. Would I like to know if the comic belongs to the screenwriter or the designer? Does the screenwriter give his script to drawings or text?

Marco: The comic book, his pages belong to the designer. The screenwriter writes the subject and then the script, page page and then gives it to the designer. But in my case, I do everything myself.

Don't you give the editor the pages anyway? Or is it up to the editor and sometimes you keep them?

Marco: My pages are delivered to the publisher.

Marco: Yeah, it's another story and a different universe.

Question about English names. Your thoughts on the various names that exist for Phantom Duck and Fantomy? The first has been referred to as Duck Avenger, Phantom Duck and Superduck while the latter as Phantomius and the strangest Phantomllard. What are your favorites?

Marco: My favorites beyond normal are Phantom Duck and Phantomius.

Beyond Disney comic books, what other comic books affected your style?

Marco: I love Uderzo's Asterix and I follow the French humorous style too.

You've sent any of your stories with Fantomia, especially some of those that show they belong to the Barks-Rossa universe, to Don Rosa So you can get his opinion? Has he commented on your work? It will be admirable for him to know that someone is keeping his universe alive!

Marco: I met Don Rosa at Naples Comic Strip Festival. We didn't talk, we just said hello.

But one journalist asked him this question: «What is your opinion that Gervasio quotes the saga (Life and the State of Scrooge McDuckIn his turn with Fantomia?»

Don Rosa said he didn't know! A laconic man, but with many plans.

Do you have plans for stories going on in the Barks-Rossa universe but without Fantomy and his company? In short, stories outside the series.

Marco: I'm thinking about it! Actually, I have stories about Fantomy covering both Rosa and Barks.

What would you say is your favorite character from the Phantom Duck universe?

Marco: … Ο Φάντομ Ντακ! ????

Ποια η γνώμη σου για τις Παπιοπεριπέτειες 2017;

Marco: Οι Παπιοπεριπέτειες και το Topolino είναι 2 δρόμοι που διαφορετική κατεύθυνση!

Θα έχει ο Κύρος την ευκαιρία να συναντήσει τον προπάππου του σε κάποια μελλοντική ιστορία;

Marco: Προσδοκώ ότι ο Κοπέρνικος θα συναντήσει τον γιο του σε μια μελλοντική ιστορία! Όσο για τον Κύρο θα δούμε ????

Ποιοι Disney δημιουργοί είναι αυτοί που σε επηρέασαν;

Marco: THE Giorgio Kavacano πρώτος από όλους! Και οι Κάρπι και Scarpa.

Από όλα τα Disney κόμικς στα οποία έχεις δουλέψει, ποιο θεωρείς ως αγαπημένο σου;

Marco: Νομίζω οι ιστορίες με τον Φαντομία και ο «Μίκυ Ρέηντζερ».

Σχέδια για κάποια μελλοντική παρωδία πέρα από τον «Μίκυ Ρέηντζερ»;

Marco: Έχω μια ιδέα αλλά δεν ξέρω αν είναι εφικτή η υλοποίησή της. Μου αρέσει ο Ρομπέν των Δασών.

Ο ανιψιός του Κύρου, ο Νεύτωνας δεν εμφανίζεται στο Γενεαλογικό Δέντρο της Οικογένειας Γρανάζη… Ούτε και οι πρόγονοι του από την ιστορία «Μια Λαμπρή Ιδέα» ή ο αγρότης ξάδερφος του από την ιστορία «Το Θαυματουργό Τονωτικό».

Ποιες από αυτές ήταν παραλείψεις και ποιες ήταν συνειδητές επιλογές; Επίσης, ποια άποψη έχεις για το ζήτημα των αδελφών του Σκρουτζ; Ο Γεδεών ή/και ο Papirone (ο δίδυμος αδερφός του θείου Σκρουτζ από τον Γκούιντο Μαρτίνα) υπάρχουν κατά την άποψή σας στο δικό σας σύμπαν των Ντακ; Ο θείος Λούφας του Ουίλιαμ Βαν Χορν;

Marco: Το οικογενειακό μου δέντρο της Οικογένειας Γρανάζη σταματάει στον Κύρο και τον ξάδερφο του, οπότε δε συμπεριέλαβα τον ανιψιό του, τον Νεύτωνα. Δεν έλαβα υπόψιν τους άλλους 2 προγόνους. Για μένα υπάρχει ο Gideon McDuck. Δεν γνωρίζω δυστυχώς τον Λούφα.

Οκ αλλά για τον Papirone; Ακόμα, που πιστεύεις ότι ήταν ο Γεδεών κατά τη διάρκεια του Βίου; Η θεωρία μου είναι ότι πάντα ήταν στο σχολείο ενώ ο Σκρουτζ γυάλιζε παπούτσια.

Marco: Συμφωνώ με την θεωρία σου. Ο Γεδεών ήταν ένα πρότυπο μαθητή και ήταν στο σχολείο (με την ιδέα να γίνει δημοσιογράφος) ενώ ο Σκρουτζ έκανε χειρωνακτική δουλειά! Δεν γνωρίζω κάτι για τον Papirone. Ο Γεδεών θα εμφανιστεί στη σειρά μου πάντως.
