Where's COMIX headed? Are you going to tell me in general or what happens after Rosa's reprints or where he ends up? It's almost two years since the magazine got into the reprints. These reprints that led to a huge change in the magazine... (to the worst in my opinion) But what happens when they're done? What happens when Lives and the State are done? Questions that actually make us wonder where Kathimerini is actually going? Has he thought forward?

What are the options?

COMIX is a version that can do anything. In this particular phase, which is, of course, a phase where they put something that has already been in and done worse sometimes since the first time, you don't call it normal. Anyway... But where do you go from there? What are the options? I'm getting three options right now.

  • The return of new and fresh material but also with old unpublished.
  • Danish stories. Back to Komix in the last years of Terzopoulos.
  • Something very extreme... again, Barks.

The first option: I don't hide it that this is my favorite choice and the one I think would be best for the magazine. Putting in fresh material from the new stories that are considered very good or have a whim... There should be a balance between Mickey Mouse and COMIX in the new stories. Still, it would be a very good idea if good unpublished stories of creators such as Kavacano came in. There are several unpublished old stories. There are also some Danish multi-pages that are very good but for some reason they do not enter.

The second option: Some good Danes will certainly be... But why don't they come in... Of course, most Danes tend not to be so good. A typical example of the Danish we were reading in the last 5 to 10 years before the closure of the New Ray. In other words, we saw more quantity than quality. There were, of course, a few exceptions, but generally it was not so good because the magazine had lost its identity.

The third option: Scenario kind of weird, but with Kathimerini, you can expect everything anymore. As Rosa returned so that Barks could return and have his own reprints. I find it somewhat invalid and bad as all of Barks' stories entered the Disney Library that was only completed in the summer of 2016. Barks is back in, and especially so soon, I think it's devastating. Public and other shops still sell the Disney Library at various prices. He's not as hard to find as Barks used to be.

The lost potential

We have recently read the Metropolis And we'll read it Ice Empire Mickey Mouse. I think we all agree that these stories should be read elsewhere in another edition. And this version is COMIX. Both stories were within the top 10 new Italians we would like to see in Greece! I was pleasantly surprised that they came in so recently but... Let us say that beyond the new creators would also be unpublished stories (and old published difficult to find in old Mickey Mouse) of Kavacano, De Beta, Carpi etc. Why not even Gottfredson and Scarpa enter Komix?

I'm still surprised when Mickey Mouse just came back. articles in good stories even of a page! It made me feel like COMIX lost even more ground. But today with preview the new Mickey Mouse #183 with Castie's story The Ice Empire I saw that we will have in this issue of Mickey Mouse a six-page article about this great story! I was really happy about Mickey Mouse, but I was really sad about COMIX. Why? Because Mickey went light years ahead with that move. The COMIX He had his strong point about standing out. from other publications with its articles and its most special structure. Now this once again is not true...

In 2010 – 2013 it had become exactly the same as Mickey Mouse and the Komix of Terzopoulos. Look what Mickey Mouse had in February 2013 and what COMIX...

Who became...

I'll say again as I've said before that it's sad that a historical version has become that way. Even if we accept the reprints, the work that has been done in the past in most cases is not comparable to the current one. Then you had a lot of information about a story you were reading about Rosa. You had an interview with the creator. Now it's all dry. I am not pleased that my favorite magazine has lost its identity and in the last 2 years I have given him names such as Reprint Magazine, Rosa and Friends, Rosa and COMIX. Rosa is one of my favorite creators but Kathimerini went too far with the overuse of his stories. To the point where almost two of his stories have been in each issue for almost a year. Not even Barks like that.

Will the style change in 2018? Will it change after the completion of the Live and the State? Time will tell. We hope for something positive.

Result of voting

In order not to appear to have forgotten the vote, I put it back and according to the results. Yes (102 votes) are far ahead. So it's gonna be a little late for the old presentations. But this is going to happen slowly because it takes time. But in Christmas, something will happen. 😉
