A Lonely Four-leaf clover
The «A Lonely Four-leaf clover» It was first published in Topolino #3405-3406, while in our country, in Mickey Mouse #610-611 (Period II). Issues have a little inch for each place, which I really liked. In my opinion, such stories should have articles.
Gastone starring!
So we have a story somewhat different, as it has its protagonist Gastone GunderWe all know Donald's unspeakable (and somewhat irritating) lucky cousin. What makes a positive impression is the evolution of Gastone as a character through this story. For me it is his most important development after Barks.
Presentation of History
We've seen stories before with Gastone having the lead role. But what makes this one special? Gastone has his birthday, but everyone avoids him and nobody celebrates with him. To verify his thoughts, he goes home Donald, where he sees him Fethry, who on an excuse had cancelled the invitation. So, now alone at home, distressed, he faces the loneliness he feels and realizes that his luck is actually a curse. So he decides to radically change his life away from everyone and make a new start in Livadohori!
The first part of the story shows us another side of blond hair lucky! He doesn't feel lucky or happy. He doesn't just make a fresh start in the village where he goes.· He also changes his appearance, while discovering new aspects of himself, learning to take care of the house and cultivate his field. This is character development that not only makes him more sympathetic and multidimensional but also gives him friends. At first, he does not reveal his identity to them because he is afraid of losing them. The first part ends with a nice «cliffhanger»As his past knocks on the door.
On the other hand, the second concerns the return to normality of LimburgWhere things go from bad to worse. Gastone feels he lost his friends after lying to them about his identity and coming back. Personally, I think this place was a bit poorer and had several exaggerations. It made Gastone's presence necessary for Limnoupoli, but it was somewhat exaggerated. But what he liked is that it closes without making history meaningless! Gastone goes back to meet his friends and now he feels really lucky.
Script
Completely different from the respective birthday story from his pennies Don Rosa, «The Triple Catch». Very nice script and fresh idea by Marco Nucci. I enjoyed reading Gastone as a character and maybe his best story for me. Where he broke up with me was the exaggeration of the second place but also how quickly things rolled. The story was 52 pages, but I felt it was smaller. Perhaps it would be better to see more activities in Livadohori.
Drawing & Coloring
The drawing and coloring, they came and bonded with history. Stefano Zanchi designs beautifully with some atmospheric frames. His style is modern Italian but he also has something of his own. I liked how he designed Gastone with his various expressions and his house. In general, I have a feeling he enjoyed this story as a job.
Summary
In conclusion, a very nice story that rearranges Gastone as a character with more depth. He's got his. «cast» (including new amore beyond Daisy) which I would love to see again in new stories. Probably the best story I've ever read with Gastone in a leading role!
