COMIX #19 and 2016 begins with a republished of Don Rosa's first story "The Son of the Sun". The cover is very beautiful, but I don't like having a reprint... In fact, it is also the general structure of the issue that we will talk about below. Changes are seen on the back of the magazine. Her color from red turns black, and the font, along with the number of the issue, has grown so much, that someone with 10 degrees myopia would read them...

The nineteenth COMIX has total, 7 stories. Let's go take a look at them.

The first story "The Son of the Sun" has 26 pages, and is the first story created by Don Rosa.

Summary:
Scrooge, with the help of Donald and Huey, Louie, Dewey, tries to discover the Incas gold before Hardhearted Chrysocook.

History I've been reading, and it's very nice. Of course, I won't say script and design, because both are excellent, but I will talk about coloring. Coloring is quite inferior to what we saw in the COMIX 1 Library, and which Fantographics also adopted. Still, on page 28, when the temple blows up, they still have the English sounds/words Boom and Zom and not the Greek ones, which the Library has. (You can see the Library's publication in Kriton's article A HAPPY WORDS! 57.)

Finally, regarding the article... Of course, to be perfectly correct, Rosa said that original dream He was about to become the new Barks. Which means he changed (and was original enthusiasm) and that's what he wanted to say in Uncle Scrooge magazine #219. Rosa has already stated it many times that he considers himself a Barks fan. (especially in recent years) He wanted to pay tribute to Barks, and that's why the D.U. C.K. in all his stories.

For the above, I'll add one. 9–9,5/10.

The second story is "A Match for Inventor".

Summary:
On the eve of the day of the lovers and his sister Eros aims to succeed with her arrows Cyrus, in order to find a match in time. Her failure, however, puts her in trouble...

Let's go see the ugly side of the issue. Where do I start with the second story? From the script, which is ridiculous, or the plan, which in some phases sucks? One of the worst stories I've ever read with Cyrus and probably the worst. The story was super Mickey level, and I can't figure out what he's doing in COMIX. We'll put one on. 4,5/10.

The third story is "Political suspicions".

Summary:
Who and what haunts Mickey's dreams and leads him to criminal acts? All evidence suggests he's the culprit!

From the bitch in Harybd, who say... I wish I knew where that Noel Van Horn story came from. I didn't like the script at all, as the screenwriter worked on it, and as an idea it's pretty good. As for the plan, I don't remember seeing Mickey any worse designed in COMIX. The story wanted to make sense, but in the end it only seems ridiculous. I wonder why they put an article on this story... That's beyond me. And that story was super Mickey class, and I'm gonna ask again what these stories are doing in COMIX... A little worse than the last one, so we'll put the 4/10.

The fourth story is A fearless duck.

Summary:
Donald asks Cyrus for help so that he can gain courage and impress Daisy.

We've seen Donald in various phases of his character, but in a phase that fears up to his shadow... I don't think so. Donald is a coward in some stories, but this has always combined either with playing it fearless and with his blunders causing laughter or because he was afraid of beings like ghosts etc. Donald's got a temper and he's gonna fight a bandit instead of shaking like a kitten and giving him his money. I didn't like the fact that the story didn't contain any of the above. Donald seemed too scared. As far as the plan is concerned, that was relatively good. For ten pages she was freezingly indifferent and disappointing, I would say. So, 5/10.

The third story is "Marathon on ice".

Summary:
Donald and his nephews in a ice skate marathon.

It's been a long time since Mau Haymans' history. This is to fill the issue and it's not a big deal. As for the plan, one is good and one is not. One, 5,5/10 We'll put it on.

Sixth story is "The master of the verse".

Summary:
Donald makes generous efforts to become a member of the poetry club, in which Daisy recently enrolled. .

History designed by Marco Rota. As a script we had nothing great, but the plan was relatively good, at the level Rota has usually formed. History doesn't have much to tell, and it's a typical ten-page page from Rota's that we've been seeing for so many years at COMIX. It's pretty boring in some places. In general, from the ten - page ones used to fill the issue and not to be the third best of the issue. That in itself I think says a lot.

One 6,5/10 I think that's enough.

Seventh story is "The Crown of Queen Kazabra".

Summary:
The Duck family is looking for a treasure, with the Marrows following them once again. After several adventures, they find two chests. One has a strange crown!

The second best story of the issue by far! Nice plan and good script. History is typical, with the search for a treasure. Of course, this is where Daisy's presence plays a role, and history doesn't unfold very far from Limnoupoli. This is where there had to be an article and it doesn't exist.

One 7,5/10 We'll put it on!

Not a single page, but the five tenths, along with Hymans' five-page page, were quite tiring! To add that, beyond the last story and the main story, the letter column was more interesting than the five other stories that the issue had. Once again, the issue had too many other publications. What's gotten into them, I don't understand.

COMIX #19 was the most disappointing issue of the series and, yes, more than the series COMIX #14. I didn't think it was that bad. At least issue 14 had four very good stories and not reprints. The structure was a mess; reprint and five tenths, which we'll forget after a week. Coloring the main story could be much better. Most accompanying stories were either boring, like Rota's or Super Mickey level. They put on a reprint, they don't play it smart at all, instead of junk making some of his stories. Fantomy of Mottura or Castie. The only positive in the issue is the cover, which is very nice. But for content I cannot say the same. I finished the issue quickly and I didn't even enjoy it. It seems from afar they're experimenting with Rosa, and I believe they're doing it to increase sales! But I don't think it'll work out... We'll do the above. 6/10 as a issue. And I might get good.

The only thing keeping the issue is the reprint! And she has her issues... At some point they had said in an e-mail of a friend, that they wanted to make some new approach to Rosa's stories in relation to the past. Where is that? Are articles a new approach, or coloring, that look the same as COMIX 89? Because I think a new approach was missing from the issue. If it was the article and the introduction of the cover without logo etc. will I say that's all? Without reprinting we would have a issue similar to what Terzopoulos has been making in recent years. Full of junk stories. I don't know how much it's worth for the younger reader to give 3.50 euros for the issue. However, for the old ones who have the story 1–2 times, it is not definitely worth it.

Now let's go to the next COMIX, where we'll see a reprint of Don Rosa's history as a 26-page main story. This story has been in the past COMIX 33 in 1991 and 2008 in COMIX Library...so it's relatively recent and easy to find it... It's on Monday. 29 February. We don't know anything about the rest of the story. Of course, our presentation does not end here, as I shall say again, as in the previous presentation, a word.

The cover again is very beautiful, but a magazine is judged not only on its cover, but mainly on its contents. I will be very disappointed if Rosa's reprint is the only worthwhile story, because very simply the issue will still not be worth his money. There are so many stories that haven't been in the magazine, I say. I get some questions in mind:

  • What happened to Fantomy?
  • Designers like Daniel Branca, Cesar Ferilloli Pelaez, where did they go?
  • Why don't they put in material from younger people like Casty, Mottura?
  • Why don't reprints (since now they want reprints) of old and difficult stories? Because Rosa sells?

Several think that, because the stories they have put up so far, coincide with those they have as posters for January and February, then COMIX will continue with reprints of Rosa's stories all year, with those seen in the calendar every month as posters. Personally, I don't want to believe this and I hope it doesn't work! If they continue at the rate they go with Rosa's reprints as main stories, it won't do the magazine any good. COMIX is not only Rosa and Barks... There are other designers. Very wise and correct what he answered Carl Barks himself. in the magazine Walt Disney Comics & Stories in 1989, when asked what course should that magazine take then? Reprints of his stories along with Flood Gottfredson? Or introduction and new designers?

Walt Disney's Comics (and Stories) 542 - 51

In short, he says that his and Gottfredson's stories are good and wonderful, and he feels flattered by the readers' devotion, but the magazine He shouldn't be spent there! But publish new designers who need recognition. And that's because some of their stories, which we read today, can become classic in the future, as did Barks himself. And so they heard Barks. (Things also told in GreekComics by my dear friend PhantomDuck)

Finally, COMIX should not done a reprint magazine. I'm not saying, reprints are good when it comes to very old stories or stories that are hard to find. After all, if Rossa's stories want to be put in the magazine, let them be secondary and not steal the position of the main story. What is happening now and if it continues to happen, if our suspicions are verified, then they will drive away many people (and I am talking about the old readers). I think it's stupid, though, to drive out old readers when you can satisfy both sides. Rosa's stories are wonderful, and I say this as his great fan, but the way they are used and presented now in the magazine is the problem. What many of us expect from Kathimerini for Rosa is a decent library with texts and not reprints at COMIX.

According to the above... What do you think?
