COMIX #27 with a republished history of Don Rosa, "The guards of the lost library". The structure of the issue It's exactly the same. with that of previous issues of 2016.
The twenty-seventh COMIX has 7 stories. Let's go take a look at each.
The Guardians of the Lost Library (28 pages)
- Project – Screenplay: Don Rosa
Rosa takes some pieces of the legendary Carl Barks as regards the Little Explorers and creates a wonderful story! First of all, I will talk about the script the story which I found very strong as it gives us within so few and interesting pages the origin not alone Book of Small Explorers and of her own Organisation! Very well connected the book with the past of Limnoupoli and the Great Library of Alexandria. We understand why the book is so pansy. It is the essence of knowledge centuries along with new modern information. Barks had this book all right in Duck's stories to give solutions to some "unexpected" in his stories but also used it in a more humorous way. Rosa managed to give him an impressive origin. The plan It is very good and I like the detail that prevails in the Museum of Small Explorers. The colors were good, but the COMIX Library was a little better.
Script: 10 – Plan: 9.5 – Average history: 10
Ivan the Terrible (12 pages)
- Project: Vicar
- Screenplay: Paul Halas
In history I find the plan The Vicar very good as we've gotten used to in several of his stories we've seen in COMIX. But on the other hand, I cannot say the same words about script The Paul HalasPersonally, I found the tiger's escape something we have other times in such stories but what disappointed me mainly and I thought a great bubble was Donald's transformation. It was something he didn't need stupid enough in my opinion. We've seen other transformation stories as they are. The Attack of Giant Tomatoes in COMIX #242 (which as the title says we have a Giant Tomatoes) and another story I remember is the one Donald transforms into a Hulk duck. Both of these stories are bad for me when I first read to her. Worse than this one. I think it could come out in fewer pages and not have Donald's transformation into a monkey duck... But Vicar's story is The second best which has the issue.
Script: 4 – Plan: 8 – Average history: 6
A look into the future (10 pages)
- Project – Screenplay: Noel Van Horn
What to say about this Van Horn story. I think he overcame himself in his bad stories. Let me put it in more detail. The story sucked. In terms of script, there was an idea that did not develop properly. I mean, it's a great idea for a ominous future, but now it's Mickey at the amusement park and suddenly a charlatan gets out of nowhere powers aren't really quite right. It's a very easy solution. The story about me could come out in five pages as the frame of accidents was too much. I believe that the script is drawn from the hair and the story is also intended for younger ages than those "which are well" (which Kathimerini considers) are Komix's target group. In short, a lousy script with a bad execution even though there was an idea that wasn't bad. As far as the plan is concerned, I find it a mess. The worst-designed Mickey I've ever seen since a real creator. I still find it bad for the character to wear his pants and be designed in the present form rather than the old one. Indifferent story and worst of the issue.
Script: 3.5 – Plan: 3 – Average history: 3
Brainless Jeannie (12 pages)
- Plan: Michael Gilberd
- Script: Francisco Rodriguez Peinado
The plan Francisco's nice up pretty good, I'd say. Of course, you have his weaknesses in some frame or character design like the genie. Of course the two best frames are the first with Daisy on page 64 and the one with Donald asking for 1 million wishes on the next page! On the other hand, script I didn't like it. Now there's a bottle of genie and a senior at a Supermarket, it's kind of weird, but the salesman's gonna be Jeannie's teacher pretty stupid. It didn't have any action or anything to make you tell the story and remember it after a while. The genie was both pretty stupid and badly designed. It was like a ten-page page like many others of Pinado in a more childish style and with a very simple plot without anything special. History is already trying to laugh, but it fails miserably. I think this style fits more in Super Mickey than here.
Script: 4.5 – Plan: 7 – Average history: 5.8
Ice loss (6 pages)
- Project: Mau Haymans
- Screenplay: Peter Collet
A five-page story from Haymans' pen. We've seen thousands of them. Design It's not that bad, but... script She's indifferent and a little too far. So much fuss over a sweater... apparently her role was to fill the issue and it will be forgotten after a few days like so many other stories we've seen from Haymans.
Script: 4 – Plan: 6 – Average history: 5
A quiet day in the garden (10 pages)
- Project: Marco Rota
- Screenplay: Per Hedman
Rota's plan is generally good but in some phases like here he suffers from what most stories he has planned in recent years. It's very monotonous, boring and as if it's faded. Scientists look like bandits, especially the assistant. As for the scenario in the final, I found it completely unnecessary to present the Marrows in history. They were put in by the screenwriter to be just in history and put in additional pages. I didn't like it. Yeah, something sudden happened and broke Donald's monotony, but it wasn't something terrible. We've seen a lot better Rota stories than her in COMIX magazine.
Script: 5 – Plan: 6.5 – Average history: 5.8
Double distraction (7 pages)
- Project – Screenplay: William Van Horne
Well, as far as the plan It's not that bad but relatively modest. Sure, some of Scrooge's expressions are pretty ugly... But let's go to the other place where the script... One of the ugliest and meaningless scenarios I've ever read! Really meaningless. The cousins of the Moors, why would they exist? Decent characters. The reason they made the theft was terribly stupid. Why wouldn't Scrooge know about their plan? Would he need something special to treat the Moorly cousins? Are cousins thieves with experience? Nah, really bad script. It's also one of William's first stories, but it's still quite unforgivable.
Script: 2 – Plan: 6 – Average history: 4
The COMIX #27 It's the same level we've been used to lately. As an issue I'd put one 5,8/10. It's a wonderful story. Rosa But once again there was full support of the issue by it. The Van Horns again left me a bad taste. In general, I will not say anything more about an issue but still disappointed me with the overall result.
In the new issue of COMIX we will see again (for 10 time!) reprint history of Rosa "The Treasure of Crosus" as a main 24-page story. This story had been put with the same cover on COMIX 190 in 2004 and 2009 in COMIX 3 Library. It is released on Thursday 27 October. First time in the history of the magazine we have the same cover as the same story (with the time differences of course that exist in logos etc). However, if we compare the interior of the issues of Kathimerini, it loses by state to the corresponding issue of the New Ray.
According to the calendar the poster for the month November (COMIX 29) is dedicated to history "The global solvent" published in COMIX 147 The 2000 and COMIX 3 Library The 2009.
Finally, the year Rosa continues but 2016 ends and so we have 2-3 more issues! I'm curious to see what's in store for us. 2017 in the magazine. Good Scandinavian stories we have several that are unpublished according to Induck s...Let's hope they're used in the future. But it's a shame we don't have history in the magazine. Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. to give the issue to Fabio Cheloni for signature in AthensCon.
What is your opinion, according to the above?
